Working on one of Maharashtra’s largest online book-selling platforms meant making book discovery simpler and more intuitive. Explore the UX process to see the research, decisions, and thinking that shaped the final experience.

UX DISCOVERY & PROBLEM FRAMING

Every great reading experience begins with discovery. Designing one is no different. When I started exploring Sakal Publication’s online bookstore, the platform already offered a rich collection of books. The real challenge wasn’t the content. It was helping readers discover the right book without feeling overwhelmed.

As the research came together, one thing became clear: this wasn’t about redesigning a website. It was about creating a simpler, more intuitive way for readers to discover books.

Rather than jumping into design, I started by understanding the existing experience. I spoke with stakeholders, observed user behaviour, reviewed the platform, and explored similar products to understand where readers struggled and where the biggest opportunities existed.

UX Strategy & Experience Design

By the end of the discovery phase, interviews, stakeholder discussions, competitor analysis, and research findings had uncovered patterns that made the next steps much clearer. I restructured the information architecture and simplified key user flows to make discovering books feel more natural.

Usability Testing & UX Validation

To validate the proposed experience, I conducted moderated usability sessions with eight participants using a mid-fidelity interactive prototype. Task completion reached 92%, users completed key journeys 28% faster, and navigation-related errors reduced by 41%.

Conclusion & Key Takeaways

Designing for Sakal Publication was about understanding how readers discover books, where they lose momentum, and how thoughtful UX can turn that journey into something effortless.
